Envínate Albahra 2024

ENVÍNATE

Envínate

A passion that unites Alfonso Torrente, José Ángel Martínez, Laura Ramos, and Roberto Santana: they met while studying oenology in Alicante and decided to share their interest in wine through an exciting project with the aim of producing wines in the areas where they provide oenological advice.

As great advocates of fresh, Atlantic-style wines that express the terroir and local grape varieties, their projects focus on the most important regions located in the Canary Islands and Ribeira Sacra (Galicia).

Since 2016, they have been working in the old regional winery of Santiago del Teide, an area 1,000 meters above sea level in the northwest of the island where no wineries remain. What does remain are bush vineyards, many between 60-120 years old, with varieties such as Listán Prieto, Listán Blanco, and Tintilla. There, they work with several local winemakers and produce a red wine called Benje (the Guanche name of the crater near Teide), and since the 2016 harvest, also Benje Blanco (€14.50). Both wines reflect that continental climate, without humidity and with lots of sunshine, much more Castilian than that of Taganana.

They are interested in areas such as Almansa (Albacete), where they produce a blend of garnacha tintorera with moravia, with a fresh character that is very pleasant to drink.

Envínate's philosophy focuses on working with unique vineyards and producing wines adapted to the characteristics of each vintage, which will determine, for example, whether or not to use stems (and in what quantities) in the winemaking process.
