De 898 a 1825, es decir a Reims, en el corazón de la región de Champagne, los reyes de Francia son sagrados. Ceremonias, de acuerdo a las historias que se hicieron, están todas las fiestas donde Champagne fluía acompañados. Rápidamente apreciado por su sabor y finura, estos se convertirán en los vinos se ofrecen en homenaje a los monarcas que llegan a la zona. Champagne posteriormente pasó muchos tratados importantes y allí recientemente, el de Maastricht. Símbolo de excelencia, Champagne está siempre en el lugar correcto en los menús de las grandes bodas reales últimos dos siglos. Fue grandes exposiciones universales mágicos y espectaculares de 1889 y 1900 en Bruselas y París invitado; y con el tiempo, confirmó su imagen del vino excepcional. Hoy más que nunca, se le llamaba siempre que cuando se trata de distinguir la escasez o la magnitud de un evento.

Situación

El viñedo champañés es el vinedo lo más spetentrional de Francia, se extiende sobre los departamentos de Haute-Marne, de Aisne, de Aube y también en algunos municipios de Seine-et-Marne. 

Suelo

Los suelos están ingratos ( calcáreos en el departamento de Marne y margosos en Aube) y imponen a las raíces de las cepas arraigarse muy profundamente, a veces hasta veinte metros.

Variedades de uva

Las cepas están repartidos entre un 30% para la cepa de Pinot Noir, un 30% para la cepa de Chardonnay y un 40% para la cepa de Pinot-Meunier.
